We at Goan Shutterbugs, wish to place on record our sincere THANKS to you, for participating and making a huge success of the 2nd Goa Photography Festival’ 2014. You have all made the theme of the festival – “Preserve & Promote the Heritage of Goa through Photography”, come very much alive! It was indeed a pleasure to have you with us.
It is with a grateful note that we wish to place on record our sincere gratitude to Goa Tourism, Directorate of Art & Culture, Better Photography, Protecta Bags, BM Web Studio, Aslesh Kamat Photography, Hands On Historians and CLICK Photography School for their whole hearted assistance and sponsorship of this festival.
We also place on record our sincere thanks to Shri. Damodar Naik (Chairman – Ravindra Bhavan, Margao and Vice Chairman – Entertainment Society of Goa) for inaugurating our festival.
A special thanks to K Madhavan Pillai, Chief Editor and his BETTER PHOTOGRAPHY Team (Mumbai & Bangalore) for the support service and wonderful session on lighting techniques and to Guru Vaidya from Adobe for his instructive presentation on Photoshop and Lightroom.
The two day sessions held by Mumbai’s Ace Photographer Shri. Raju Shukla, were indeed very knowledgeable and many intricacies were made known to the photographers about ‘Table Top Photography’.
Presentation by Aditya Singh on Wildlife photography, by Paresh Porob on Goan Flora and Fauna, by Rakesh Rao on his Journey to Antarctica, Ajey Patil on Underwater Photography, Rahul Prabhudesai on Mountaineering and Keith Mascarenhas on his solo ride to Ladakh and back were very informative and evoked good response.
A special thanks to Piyush Shah of Photo Emporium, Panjim for all his assistance in providing us with the lighting equipment.
GOAN SHUTTERBUGS, which was launched on World Photography Day – 19th August 2010 has been at the forefront in aggressively promoting photography in Goa. We have been conducting photo walks, workshops, contest, exhibitions, etc. We have also conducted free workshop across many school, colleges and institutions. Most, if not all, these activities are open to all and free.
We received a lot of membership enquires at the festival, we are pleased to inform that we have extended the membership offer till 30th October. The Life Member fees is Rs. 2000/-, with it you will receive exclusive Goan Shutterbug merchandise worth Rs. 1300/-. Join fast!!
Our photo exhibition on “Goan Festivals” was hosted at the Central Library Exhibition Hall and the same was inaugurated by Shri Carlos Fernandes (Curator – Krishnadas Shama Central Library) received a lot of visitors. We are pleased to inform you that we will now be hosting the same in Margao at Ravindra Bhavan shortly. All photos exhibited were clicked by our members, during our photo walks to these festivals.
The DISCOVER PANJIM Amazing Treasure Hunt, on 7th September ’14, – concluding day, where participants had to find 12 photographic clues in the shortest time evoked much response. Over 90 contestants in 20 Teams on vehicles participated in the event. The winners of this contest were the 7 Star team and picked up the winners cheque of Rs. 10,000/-.
A very exciting “PROTECTA Panjim Photo Walk” was conducted under the guidance of promoter of Hands-On-Historians forum Sanjeev Sardesai. Many amateur, as well as professional photographers and many other interested in heritage were accompanied to areas of the St. Tome Ward of Panjim as well as within the heritage precinct of Fontainhas.
At the start of the festival we had announced a Photo Contest with the theme “CHILDREN AT PLAY”. Please check out the contest webpage for details of the contest. The contest ends on the midnight of 31st October 2014. You stand to win some fabulous prizes for the best photos. So hurry and get clicking!!
